The LEADER Transnational Cooperation Awards collected 60 applications from participating countries.
The first selection of the nominated Nordic-Baltic Leader transnational cooperation projects is now done!
The finalists of the five categories were chosen out of 60 nominees in Roskilde, Denmark on the 6th June 2013. The evaluation committee included the representatives of Estonia, Lithuanian, Latvia, Swedish, Finnish and Danish rural networks.

à la région- Upper Tampere & Hunsrück and Rhein valley is a cooperation project between 3 LAGs in Finland and Germany. The operators in the three LAGs have found several contacts and brought active people from different fields together and helped them to design and launch joint projects between the actors in Germany and Finland. After first contacts in 2009 through a finnish tourism project the three local action groups decided to start a co-operation and within that implement different co-operation projects between different groups within a variety fields.More info HERE |

The transnational project aimed at business development through establishing business contacts between Polish and Swedish rural firms. Business contacts consist in reciprocal visits and study tours, organizing and participating at fairs in both countries that enable testing products and services. The testing groups from both countries visit each other for inspiration and business development, combining taking part in local fairs with testing local food and tourist offers like fishing. Evaluation of joint events is an im portant part of the project. The firms receive feedback needed to meet the expectations from potential business partners and visitors from the other country. The project like its name „Loving local values“ focused on valuing local products and food in the district of Development Centre (LAG Arenduskoda) and Kymenlaakso county in Finland, where it involved the municipalities - Kouvola, Hamina, Kotka, Miehikkälä, Pyhtöö, Lovisa, Virolahti and Iti. Related to the goals and activities the focus of the project was to enhance cooperation between people who are active in the field of local food, rural tourism and handicraft to help them design their products and services, add extra value and arrange better marketing. The main focus was on food products!
We have mapped the food producers in both regions (in Estonia and Finland), started common discussions between them and planned follow-up projects. The other important focus of the project was rising awareness about local and healthy food. Local food consuming is directly connected with the awareness of consumers. Through the open food days in regions everybody could participate for example in food cooking contests an also in the topic-related seminars. More info HERE |

The Villages Full of Treasures is an international project, which main objective is to promote cultural knowledge and develop tourism of villages. The project will inspire especially young people to try traditional skills. During the project partners will arrange different festivals on their area. Other partners have opportunity to take part to the festivals and send artisans to keep workshops of their home countries traditional crafts and food culture. Project will develop local tourism in our areas with different issues, geocaching, treasure hunting and all kind of activities. Every LAG´s do cooperation and learn from each other’s. Summary: |
This international project highlights the renewing European folk traditions with the different styles and techniques implemented in nonprofessional art that gets its power from folk traditions and folk art. It will produce models of how traditions of wood carving and folk culture can be used to develop activities that enrich both the environment and the community. Self‐taught artists of wood sculpting from different countries will meet and exchange skills and techniques. Young people will be taught in workshops how to sculpt and use tools. The works of the artists will be brought out for public viewing in exhibitions, festivals, competitions, performances, publications, and workshop activities. |
