| Backround of the project: |
The problem of the young people living in areas of Mulgimaa (Abja municipality, Halliste municipality, Mõisaküla town) is limited opportunities on participating in different cooperation initiatives because their moving opportunities are render difficult (limited transportation etc.) and they don't have the necessary tools/activities. Young people in cooperation with Karhuseutu area started an initiative to connect young people in Mulgimaa. Its aim is to offer an possibility for the young people of Mulgimaa to participate on study-trip of Abja and Karhuseutu 4H. Whereas local youth have limited opportunities compared to youth who are living in towns then this study-trip helps to fill the spare time of youth and take them to activities that are usually unachievable. |
| Main activities: |
Project involves 2 international study-trips to Finland where local young people can meet with youth of LAG Karhuseutu. Young people want to educate themselves about Finnish cultural heritage through making films, to do something with their hands and to meet local sights and activities of Karhuseutu 4H. Young people will visit The Ark Nature Centre with instructors in September 2011 and after visiting the adventure trail they will do different things with their hands. They will also visit the Many Culture Centre in Pori town. Young people can spend their spare time safely, purposeful and quality on these study-trips. Young people learn how to make friends from other culture-room, they will learn about local culture-life, historical heritage in Karhuseutu area, they unity between them will grow, their parents won't worry about their kids and young people will stay in the area to retain the heritage of Mulgimaa. They will also like to retain the safe environment in local area so that young people could live safely. |
| Output and results indicators: |
They have quite big number of international young participants to the event; they learned the meaning of social-media; they made friends with youth who live in different culture; they learned how to create a film; they learned more about Estonian and Finnish cultural heritage; they learned the traditions and culture of Finland; they got to know more about Karhuseutu 4H; they had the chance to present activities of Abja 4H club A.N.O; they developed further cooperative relations. |
| Experiences/lessons learned: |
The young people who participated on this project learned to make friends with youth from other culture, they will present the local culture-life, historical heritage and grow the feeling of identity with Karhuseutu area's youth.
The mentor of film-making and media-courses for youth is Satakunta Film Association. Young people will share their ideas about making a film, they will make new plans and learn from different activities.
The project helps to grow the tolerance and friendship. Estonians will present Estonian culture heritage and heritage culture in Paudi Farm through different activities. For example - 2 men will saw with two-men-saw, pleach baskets, doing pre-works of making yarn, activities in smithy and weaving a rag carpet. |
